Willamette Writers Conference Experience

This past weekend was a great experience at the conference where I saw some familiar faces and lots of new ones. I got to pitch for the very first time - one group and two one-on-ones. Now I'm busy preparing my queries and a synopsis for each of my novels as each agent/editor requested the first 50 pages. Writing will keep me busy for a long while. Will keep you posted.

Estela Bernal

Books have been a passion of mine since I learned to read. Perhaps it was the fact that I grew up without them and have been trying to make up for that childhood deficiency ever since. Perhaps it is the way books enrich my life as they open up new worlds for me to explore.

Living in Portland has allowed me to indulge my passion for reading and writing as it has the best library system and bookstores in the country and its residents take their books as seriously as they do their coffee, food, and beer.

I'm a member of Willamette Writers, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and SCBWI-OR. I attend at least one conference and/or writers’ workshop or retreat each year. I also belong to two critique groups made up of wonderfully creative, innovative, and resourceful writers who are very generous with their time and feedback. Thanks, Guys!
